Ecommerce Consulting Services

We are Connected Shopping Ltd.  However, we were born out of the sale of Connected Learning Ltd to Horizon Wimba (now simply ‘Wimba’ which was subsequently acquired by Blackboard).  Our elearning background is significant and includes some of the following highlights:

  • developers of Course Genie e-learning authoring software
  • first UK resellers of WebCT (now Blackboard)
  • content authoring team for Pearson Education
  • approved training providers for Blackboard Vista and CE LMS across EMEA
  • developers on the Wimba Live Classroom and Wimba Voice Tools products

Since then, we have gone on to develop Course Merchant – the ecommerce catalog for Moodle, Dokeos and other LMS systems.  We have also developed CourseIndex.com – the elearning affiliate network for those that sell courses online.

Over 100 training providers, universities, colleges and other online learning providers now rely on our systems to power their ecommerce.

Moodle Module Development

As well as developing standalone ecommerce systems for use in elearning and online training, we also develop Moodle modules to enhance sales, reporting, tracking or general student management for our customers.

Example 1:  We have developed a Moodle module for a recent customer selling Gas Simulations.  The Gas Simulations are built in a scorm format.  Our customer needed a way of loading different set-up scenarios into the scorm interactivity, and then to derive a set of specific scores, feedback and comments resulting from a student’s participation in the interactivity.  This is now fed directly into the Moodle reporting areas.  It will shortly be fed into non-Moodle reporting areas for tracking access outside the Moodle system.

Example 2:  A customer selling medical training materials needed a way to allow school administrators to access student tracking data without giving them access to Moodle itself.  We have developed a new reporting module on Course Merchant that pulls score data from Moodle and delivers it via a school admin login away from the Moodle environment itself.

Example 3:  A customer wanted to develop an Employee Engagement Survey Tool.  We have built such a system in CAKE.  A company administrator can create a company account, create a unique PIN, send that out to employees who can then take the appropriate survey.  Survey results are then reported back dynamically using a neat graphing tool that is shortly to be connected to Moodle to enhance Moodle’s own reporting capabilities.

Example 4:  A company wanted to pre-sell course seats to companies within its supply chain.  However, the seats could only be taken up when approved by a Line Manager.  So, we built a modification to Course Merchant for Moodle to allow an employee to reach checkout and then to select a given Line Manager.  The enrollment scripts stop at this point.  Once the Line Manager approves the order, the enrollment scripts start again and complete the employee enrollment into the Moodle course.  The value of seats left in a supplier account then automatically counts down until all seats are used.  The system is capable of auto emailing an admin to recommend a new purchase top up when seats reach a pre-defined level.

We can quote for a range of software development work related to the sale and management of seats on your online courses.  Why not complete our web form or simply email us (info@connectedshopping.com) to open a dialog on how we may be able to help you achieve your ecommerce for elearning goals.
